Endangered Instruments

Endangered Instruments is a professional musical organization dedicated to creating innovative, technologically enhanced gateway experiences that will motivate young children to realize their own artistic potential through individual and collective music making.  We envision fully enrolled and vibrant school music programs that enhance learning abilities, improve self-discipline, foster imagination and provide a sense of collective responsibility.

Our show tells the stories of six children who faced challenging situations and were inspired to join music which ultimately changed their lives in unexpected ways.

When children walk in to their gym for a performance, they see a 15’wx10’h backdrop depicting a rock concert.  The center of the backdrop is a video screen showing one of Yamaha’s videos on how to make instruments.  When the show begins, the lights drop, fog bursts from under the stage, moving lights and lasers fill the room and there is no need to tell the kids what to do – scream, yell, get excited – this is a rock concert!

However, this is now ordinary rock concert.  This is a produced show featuring violin, trumpet, saxophone, trombone, tuba and voice.  The message is clear: Music is Fun, You Can Do This Too, Join Music.  The host of the show is a JD voice depicted by a moving waveform on the video screen and his guest for the show is our storyteller, of course, her waveform is pink.

The show goes through all the disciplines of choir, orchestra and band and feature each highly accomplished performer.  Each scene uses video imagery from marching bands, theme parks, cruise ships, orchestras, concert/jazz bands, recording studios and rock concert venues to emphasize the major story points.  All of the music is originally composed to fit the genera's that are relevant to kid’s current musical tastes: Alternative Rock, Hip Hop, Ska, Latin, R & B and Video Game/Movie Scores. The kids leave the show super-charged and ready to join music.
